There are so many veteran users on these forums, and while I know they may be busy, I think between all the modding experts around here there would be some useful information on modding CC somewhere. Lord Tim's tutorial is the most useful resource around, but it's hopelessly outdated, and doesn't seem to work with b23. The Modding category on the wiki is just so insubstantial that I can't find anything there. I have heeded the advice to try modifying existing mods, but I'm not trying to make anything fancy. I don't see why a straightforward, up-to-date basic modding tutorial is too much to ask from this community, and I'm sorry if this comes across as flaming, but it's frustrating to have such high-quality work from the community and not be able to give back by creating my own.

Straight forward tutorials on how to mod would seem too hard to make.
As every modder has some sort of different coding style.

If anything, you ought to learn the variables by yourself.

I used to know nothing at all. Nothing. I learned from looking at others' mods and editing. Now I know quite a bit. You really learn it all on your own. Ask questions on the forums, find out what you wanted to, then rinse and repeat.

What's wrong with it? Doors haven't changed since b20 when LT made that up, neither has the basic principles of ini editing. The only things wrong that I could see in a quick lookthrough is that glow colors no longer apply, and we have more basegame .rte's around. Oh, and Lua, but new modders needn't concern themselves with that until later.

Ask me something specific, such as "Hey, make me a walkthrough to making a gun" or "What does [variable] do?"

I am looking specifically at Part 4 (The aptly-named Super Duper New Person Guide) where he mentions PromGrounds.rte repeatedly. That's definitely not in b23. And after following his directions to the letter, (well, not to the letter, as his .bmp attachment has vanished, leaving me to substitute Pistol.bmp from Base.rte/Devices/Pistols) I still get a gun with no view model that I appear to be shooting backwards from my armpit.
Now, this is veering into Support territory, so I'll just make it more specific: make a much more in-depth version of that guide.

Duh102's tutorial is exactly the kind of work that the wiki needs. It's thorough without being too technical, and doesn't presume the reader to have any idea what they are talking about. A million thank yous to Duh102, by the way.

Yes. Written for a friend who wanted to get into modding, but then got bored of Cortex after reading tutorial 2. Never got around to posting it here.
